About the event
Join us for a creative and meaningful workshop where you'll craft your own dream catcher using natural materials, colorful fibers, beads, and personal touches. As we weave, we'll reflect on themes of intention, protection, dreams, and connection while learning about a traditional art form that has been shared across generations.
Dream catchers originated with the Ojibwe Nation (also known as the Anishinaabe people). Traditionally, they were handcrafted hoops woven with a web-like pattern and hung above sleeping spaces. According to Ojibwe teachings, the web was believed to catch unwanted dreams while allowing good dreams to pass through the center and gently travel down the feathers to the sleeper below. Over time, dream catchers have been embraced by many Indigenous communities and are widely recognized as symbols of protection, hope, and positive energy.
