In this class, we will explore henna tattooing, using this ancient art form to cultivate mindfulness. Each intricate design becomes a meditation, reminding us of the transient nature of life and interconectedness of all beings. We will explore the basics of henna application and design. You'll gain a new artistic skill and a deeper understanding of how creativity can foster mindfulness.
Henna is an ancient body art tradition dating back over 5,000 years, with origins tracing to regions of North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. Made from the dried leaves of the henna plant (Lawsonia inermis), the natural dye was historically used not only for decorative body art, but also to cool the skin in hot climates and to dye hair, textiles, and leather.
